TradeTrust, a product of Invent Adenos Ltd, is committed to protecting the personal information of everyone who uses our platform. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we use it.
1. Information we collect
From sellers
- Name, email address, and phone number at registration
- Business name, category, and location
- Identity documents submitted for verification (NIN, BVN, CAC registration)
- Bank account details (account number is stored encrypted)
- Social media handles and website URLs
From buyers
- Name, phone number, and email address at checkout
- Delivery address, state, and city
- Payment reference and transaction data from Paystack
Automatically collected
- IP address and device information at login
- Browser user-agent strings
- Session tokens (stored as HTTP-only cookies)
2. How we use your information
- To process payments and release funds to sellers
- To verify seller identity and calculate trust scores
- To send order status notifications via email and SMS
- To investigate and resolve disputes
- To prevent fraud and abuse on the platform
- To comply with legal and regulatory obligations in Nigeria
3. Data sharing
We share your data only with:
- Paystack — to process card payments and verify transactions
- Resend — to send transactional email notifications
- Termii — to send SMS notifications
- Law enforcement agencies, when required by Nigerian law
We never sell your personal data to third parties.
4. Data retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active and for 7 years after account closure, in compliance with Nigerian financial record-keeping requirements. Order and payment records are retained for 7 years. You may request deletion of non-financial personal data by contacting us.
5. Security
We use industry-standard security measures including TLS encryption in transit, encrypted storage for sensitive fields (bank account numbers), HTTP-only cookies for session tokens, and 2-factor authentication for seller accounts. For more details see our Security page.
6. Your rights
Under applicable Nigerian data protection laws (NDPR), you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Request deletion of data (subject to legal retention requirements)
- Object to processing of your data for marketing purposes

7. Cookies
TradeTrust uses a single session cookie (sg_session) which is HTTP-only, secure, and expires after 7 days. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics cookies.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify sellers by email of any material changes. Continued use of TradeTrust after changes constitutes acceptance.
